SUCCESS REPORT

On Thursday 2023-03-16 at about 13H30 members of eThekwini District Tracking Team received information on suspects traveling in three(3)x vehicles along Cato Manor road, a silver Nissan Navarra ND***-***, a white Toyota Starlet CY***-*** and blue Ford Figo WDB***** the occupants in these vehicles were suspected to be hitmen and according to the information these suspects were on route to assassinate a well-known taxi boss in Cato Crest who was in a carwash few meters away from where the hitman were apprehended.
The members called for backup and then started following up on the information. Members spotted the said vehicles and proceeded with caution to the location. Whilst proceeding there, they noticed the three (3) above mentioned vehicles on Montelle Road. The members quickly stopped the Nissan Navarra and Toyota starlet, they searched the occupants four (4) suspects one of them who is an ex-Police officer. Upon searching the vehicles two (2) high calibre rifles, five (5) rifle magazines and one hundred and five (125) live rifle ammunition was recovered. The blue Ford Figo fled, forcing the members to give chase. The blue Ford Figo was recovered along Amanda-Crest-Way where the fifth (5) suspect was apprehended.
Upon further investigation of the vehicles, it was established that the Nissan Navara was hi-jacked as per Inanda Case: ***/03/2023 and the Toyota Starlet was hired vehicle.
The exhibits were entered at Cato Manor SAPS as per SAP***/287/2023, SAP***/287/2023 and the suspects detained at Cato Manor SAPS for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition and section 36 as per Cato Manor Case ***/03/2023.
