On Friday 2023-03-10 at about 18:45 members from the Urban Defence field unit received an armed Robbery complaint on Randles Road whereby 9 x-colored males using a white golf with no plates was used and had been seen proceeding towards BP Garage. Members Spotted the Vehicle fitting the same description as given by the Complainant. The vehicle was stopped and searched whereby cell phones and knives were recovered. While members were still searching the suspects The complainant came and identified the cellphones that he was robbed off by the group of 9 colored males. Members placed the suspects under arrest. While members were still busy with the suspects, they were approached by an Asian male who came running after a Ford ST that was going to the garage and informed members that this car looks like his car that was hijacked in 2019 and he has the spare key at home and asked members to stop the vehicle and check it for Him While he was going to collect the spare car keys. Members stopped the vehicle and searched it. A vehicle check was conducted via SAPS radio control. The vehicle was reported as hijacked as per Sydenham case ***/11/2019 the vehicle was seized and entered as per SAPS ***/6/2023 All the 9 x Suspects including the driver of the Ford ST were taken to SAPS Sydenham to be detained and charged accordingly. The white golf 7 was also seized for being used in the commission of a crime and entered as per SAPS***/6/2023.
